Israel Water Innovation Day, 6 July 2011

Approximately 2 billion people around the world either lack access to sufficient quantities of water, or are supplied with water unfit for drinking. Governments, academia, international institutions and corporations around the world are searching for new and innovative solutions to meet the world’s sustainability challenges. These efforts are no longer targeting a specific nation; rather, efforts are focusing on finding a global connecting thread.

Having coped with water shortages for more than 60 years, the State of Israel has gained experience in developing unique solutions for issues such as intelligent water resource management, irrigation technologies, water quality, water purification, wastewater restoration, desalination and water security. Israel, with its innovative and vibrant industry, has become a major player in these fields.

Reclaiming almost 75% of its wastewater, Israel’s total water consumption remains nearly the same since 1964. Israel today is recognised as a global leader in the water arena, continuing to offer breakthrough technological innovations across a variety of areas. Indeed Israel's NRW (non-revenue water) is approximately 12%, half the European average.

ILSI-BioMed Israel 2011

The Commercial Office will be coordinating a delegation from the UK to ILSI-BioMed 2011, one of the world’s most influential bio-medical events currently taking place in Tel Aviv.
Now in its 10th year, ILSI-BioMed attracts visitors from around the globe to hear both a series of world-class speakers and to meet the very best of Israeli and selected American and European bio-medical device and Life Science Companies.
Taken from the events website, key highlights will include.
  • A full day Cardiovascular Symposium and seminars focusing on the patient of tomorrow, preventative medicine, oncology, orphan diseases, CNS diseases, and regulation/reimbursement
  • 60 presentations given by Israeli medical device and biopharma companies
  • Cutting-edge keynote addresses by prominent industry leaders from Israel and abroad
  • A platform where science, technology, academia and industry come together
  • Present up-to-date issues around the economical and regulatory landscape and the future of healthcare through a variety of panels on industry topics and trends
  • Provide a meeting place for personalized one-on-one meetings and networking opportunities
Last year, over 4000 one-to-one meetings were generated during the course of the event, an extraordinary number given ILSI-BioMed is still relatively new. Dr Ellis, Senior Vice President of Nasvax said of last year’s BioMed:
"The ILSI conference is the annual showcase of the Israeli Bio sector, which has one of the world's very highest rates of patent filings and start-ups. This vibrant industry is a model of creativity, productivity and efficiency, and is attracting more foreign attendees who want to learn from its successes"
The Commercial Office will try hard to give delegates an unforgettable experience, with a tour of some of Israel’s most impressive R&D facilities and a special function at the British Embassy.
Our efforts to generate business dialogue between Israeli and UK companies are not solely based around events.
If you have an interest in approaching any Israeli market or company, please get in touch and we will do everything we can to help.
