Report: The UK delegation to ILSI-BioMed 2012

In its 11th annual conference this year, ILSI-BioMed is considered the leading international conference covering the fast-growing field of innovation in the biomedical, health care and life sciences industries, where industry and academia join hands to learn about the latest and future developments, explore opportunities for new business ventures, meet up with old colleagues and make new contacts.

As in previous years, the Trade & Economic Office at the Embassy of Israel, London, coordinated a delegation of companies and individuals from the life sciences spectrum in UK and Ireland to attend Biomed and additionally benefit from tailored activities outside the conference.

This year we were pleased to have had 9 delegates from 8 companies and institutions, including the Welsh Government, joining our delegation. In addition to the large selection of seminars, networking events and one-on-one meetings offered by BioMed, our delegates enjoyed other activities specially planned for them: they met for an informal dinner with delegates from Italy and Germany prior to the conference, met Israeli companies which we had identified in advance as relevant to them and ended their stay in Israel in a unique tour to explore Israel’s innovative character through its leading research institution and two fascinating Israeli companies, renowned for their innovative technologies in the pharma and diagnostics fields.

Our delegates, some of which had exhibited in BioMed this year and had their own stands, found the conference very successful and enjoyed the delegation’s activities as well. With feedback from the meetings we had arranged between UK and Israeli companies have been very fruitful, we are expecting further follow-ups up quite soon. We are delighted to have been involved in organising another successful delegation and to increase the exposure to the Israeli life sciences arena through ILSI-BioMed.  We very much hope that the delegation would help to further develop the meaningful corporation between the UK and Israel that already exists in this field.
